From the foundation: character-building 101
Over the past few weeks, I’ve come to realize this season of waiting my husband and I are navigating isn’t so much about what’s not happening—it’s about what is happening. When Bob and I took a leap of faith three years prior and relocated our household from a suburban life of relative ease to a fixer-upper in the middle of a forested community, we clung to Isaiah 43:18-20 when faced with discouragement: Forget the former things…I am doing a new thing. These words inspired us to persevere. Lately, however, I’ve sensed that the “new thing” God is doing extends beyond the visible eye to the foundation of what He cares about most: our character. And I believe that true transformation begins first by adopting humility under His might handy, as instructed by the apostle Peter, so that He’ll lift us up in due time. An apt reminder that His plans are never late and never early. But right on time.
