Mining everyday moments: stories waiting to be told
I’ve always enjoyed learning how other writers develop their story ideas. Which inspired me to start paying closer attention to the random snippets of conversation and everyday moments I encounter on any given day. For instance, a couple months ago, while standing in the middle of a caulk aisle at the hardware store as my husband deliberated between the color choices, an elderly gentleman dressed in a flannel shirt and sporting hearing aids shuffled by us. He reminded me so much of my dad—who passed away in 2014—that tears sprang to my eyes. I immediately grabbed my ever-present notebook and drafted ‘Jack’ of All Trades, which was published in Woman’s World Feb. 6 issue. In other story news, be sure to sign up for my newsletter before the March drop (it might happen sooner!) when subscribers will be first to learn the latest excitement. You don’t want to miss it! Or the chance to be entered in my next drawing for free merch.
