Just do it: reflections on another birthday in the books
For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed making a big deal out of my birthday. But this year, the date snuck up on me and it came and passed with little fanfare. In fact, it felt like any other day on the calendar—except for the customary princess tiara I donned for the occasion. The truth is, I have everything I could ever want or need—good health, an amazing family and friends, shelter, food and water, transportation, nearby hiking trails, a vocation I love and the promise of happy ever after on the other side of this lifetime. If there’s anything I’ve learned in the past fifty-eight years, I think Maya Angelou said it best: “…despite the creakiness of one’s bones and cragginess of one’s once-silken skin… do it. By all means, do it.” Take the trip, wear the tiara, eat the cake, write the book.* What is that one thing you want to do?
What would it take for you to just do it?
