Embracing transition: holding on loosely

Times of transition are strenuous, but I love them. They are an opportunity to purge, rethink priorities, and be intentional about new habits… ~ Kristin Armstrong

A week ago I attended a creative workshop facilitated by my mentor and former writing coach, Sage Adderley, that focused on the timely topic of embracing transitions. At the beginning of the session, I was feeling significant overwhelm with the transitions I’ve been experiencing physically, emotionally and relationally—that revolve around aging, as well as creating a sustainable work-life balance and holistic well-being. What I discovered during this hour-long workshop is that, like nature’s seasons and cycles, I’m undergoing my own form of metamorphosis. While some days this process looks messy, scary and uncomfortable, I’m also learning it can be simultaneously simple, joy-filled and inspired. For me, it means holding onto change lightly, which allows my “inner butterfly” to spread its wings and thrive in whatever capacity the Lord has called me to serve.

Do you struggle with transition, or embrace it?
