Another year, another birthday: what it means to me
This is my birthday week, and a friend recently messaged me an article published in our high school paper featuring yours truly. The headline read: Typing Touch Earns Chris Maday Dollars. As I read the piece, I tried to recall life as a 17-year-old junior with my shiny future spread out before me. At the time, I’d wanted to attend business school after graduation, with a long-range goal of becoming a writer. Not surprisingly, life took a few detours along the way, and though I never imagined it would take four decades to achieve my dream “job,” I’m determined to continue setting fresh goals while there’s still breath in my lungs. In a recent post, I shared my plans to prepare for a new decade by performing 60 intentional acts of kindness throughout the year. Although birthdays come and go—and age is just a number—I’m a firm believer that each sunrise is an invitation to live life to the fullest.
What do birthdays mean to you?

Happy Birthday a little early, great and thoughtful post and great picture! to me, birthdays are days to think about good things that have happened over the past year, to be thankful for family and friends, and to think about what I hope will happen in the coming year, thank you for asking!
Hi Angela, I gladly except your early birthday wishes 🙂 I love that you set aside time to reflect on where you’ve been and where you hope to go. I think intentionality is a huge component of gratitude.
