Two are better than one: sharing our burdens

Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10a

A couple weeks ago, my husband and I were acting out the bad-cop, good-cop scenario during a situation wrought with adulting. You know the kind: big decisions with life-altering consequences. On one day, I’d be sharing my crippling doubts and dread, while he worked to bring me back down to his level, cool-headedness. Yet the next day, his unflappable mindset did a 180 and I’d be picking up the pieces of his psyche littering the floor. But this works for us because, per the oft-quoted verse found in scripture: two are better than one. In other words, whether you’re in a committed relationship—or possess a trusted friend or family member in whom you can share the burden—the importance of a sounding board (and wise counsel) can make all the difference between moving forward with confidence, or remaining stuck behind in fear.

Who can you confide in?
