Unpacking the ‘feels:’ shedding the old for the new
A couple months ago, I announced my “retirement” (I use that term loosely!) and spent five weeks preparing for my replacement. During that time, I also entertained out-of-town family, my husband and I sold our home and began searching for “new digs,” I continued submitting writing samples and stories (sold one!) and organized a moving sale. Several weeks later and post-major move, I’m finally unpacking #allthefeels. Bottom line: There’s no handbook on how we’re “supposed” to feel. As far as retirement, I feel more pressure now that I’m my own boss. And pertaining to our move, I may be grieving a bit. Today, I plan to “sit” with these feels—acknowledge and bid them adieu—so that I can make room to welcome in the new. Incidentally, if you’re waiting to take your own leap(s), listen to the song ‘Til you can’t—a perfect reminder that whatever your hopes and dreams, you can still take one small step.
Any “feels” you need to unpack or steps to take?
