A firm foundation: fixing our eyes on the immovable
There is only one secure foundation…no matter what storms are raging. ~ Charles Stanley
While house/cat sitting for my daughter and her boyfriend, I ventured on a solo walk close to dark. Unfortunately, I grabbed my sunglasses vs. my regular pair, rendering visibility limited. Nearly 20 minutes later, I realized I was lost so I pulled up the walking directions from my mobile GPS. This only served to further confuse me. I then attempted navigating the driving route to no avail. Finally, I removed my sunglasses and looked up—an immovable mountain range towering in front of me that helped to reconfigure my bearings. Life is a lot like that. If I maintain my focus on the concerns of this world that shift and change on a whim, I often lose my way. But when I fix my eyes on that which is immoveable—my firm foundation in Christ—I stay better grounded to navigate life’s storms and unfamiliar territory. And GPS glitches.
How do you stay grounded?
