Work hard, play hard: refueling our ‘output’ with ‘input’
I don’t think of work as work and play as play. It’s all living. ~ Richard Branson
I was in the middle of a major household move, COVID and life in a new community when I wrote and submitted my debut Love Inspired novel (“A Father’s Vow,” April 2024 release) in August 2022—celebrating with a weeklong staycation. My second novel (now in the hands of my editor for consideration) took less time to write but under different circumstances, so I planned to start outlining the next book ASAP. But I. Was. Wiped. Out. Instead of returning to the keyboard, I chose to spend a month replenishing my “input” after months of intensive “output.” I engaged in fun activities, binge-watched CSI Miami, played games, cooked and baked, devoured podcasts, read until I passed out, played tourist, and hiked new trails. And was reminded that work and play can coincide as long as we refuel as we go.
Do you work or play more, less or in equal amounts?
