Summer blog series: extending hope by giving back
Giving back involves a certain amount of giving up. ~ Colin Powell
Thank you for joining me for week no. 6 and the last installment of my summer blog series. Although I’ve barely made a dent in the number of ways to extend hope, I hope the posts have inspired you. Click here to catch up on weeks 1-5. This week, I focus on giving back, and how that produces hope for those on the receiving end. In a nutshell, giving back might mean repaying a kindness received with a good deed to someone else. Or contributing money, goods or services for charitable purposes as a way to express gratitude toward someone, something or a community. I believe that individuals on the receiving end are filled with hope because of the sacrifice—giving up—required to open our hearts and our hands to give back. If you need ideas, check out my friend Cheri’s homeless project.
How have you given back to repay a kindness or express gratitude?
