What you know + what you’re good at: finding your lane

Isn’t the cover beautiful?

I’ve read several meanings of the saying, “Stay in your lane,” but my favorite is: find your purpose and stick with what you know and what you’re good at. While “good” is an ideal I continue to strive toward, there have been many signs over the years pointing me toward my purpose—culminating in a contract earlier this year with Love Inspired to publish my debut novel, A Father’s Vow, which officially releases in April 2024 (pre-orders available). In my Q&A with Harlequin, I talk about the making of the book, but it began with what I knew. In 2020, through the help of a writing coach, I fleshed out the fictional Northern Arizona town of Sweetwater, where I “met” my hero and heroine. Fast-forward 15 months to a contest called the Love Inspired Great Author Search. It took this 57-year-old princess a while to find my lane, but I hope to stay here for a long time.

If you’ve found your lane, what does it look like?
