Next steps: bite-sized means to an end
A few weeks ago while traveling, my daughter texted me after dropping off her rental car. Near tears due to multiple mishaps, she worried about missing her flight home. My momma “fix it” mindset kicked in. But at 780 miles between us, I could only pray. And then I thought about what she needed to do next. I returned her text: Now catch shuttle. My daughter: I’m on shuttle now. Me: Then get to terminal… drop off luggage. My daughter: Just checked bag. Me: Now get to security. My daughter: Through security. This back-and-forth communication continued to the gate and until she boarded the plane. My hope had been to eliminate the need for her to focus on the big picture by redirecting her attention to the manageable steps in front of her. A good reminder to those of us whose eyes are on the entire staircase, to instead fix our gaze on the bite-sized means to an end.
Where do you need to focus on next steps?
