When life is out of control: taking ownership

Over the past year and a half, I’ve felt out of control in several areas of my life—from the contractors working on our cabin who operate on “mountain time,” to changes in my health, to my daughter’s recent major household move (it’s all good), to the ever-changing publishing industry. I’ve come to realize, however, that I might feel out of control, but there are always aspects of a situation I can control. For example, instead of getting worked up about a contractor whose 7 a.m. turns into 11 a.m., I can modify my schedule to accommodate a work-around in plans. I can also research different ways to better care for my long-term health, schedule a fun trip to visit my daughter, and continue to write the stories God’s put on my heart. I think the key is to quit wasting time and energy on what we can’t control, take ownership of what we can, and trust God with it all.

Where do you need to take ownership?
