Thanksgiving series three of three: Give thanks in all circumstances

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Welcome to the third and final installment of my Thanksgiving series! You can catch up on the previous posts here. With Thanksgiving in the recent past, it’s the perfect time to focus on how we can continue to be thankful in all circumstances. If I’m being honest, gratitude is not always an easy virtue, even on a good day. But this verse encourages an attitude adjustment and a re-focusing of priorities. The first step is by thanking God for His blessings—both temporal and eternal; and the second is by focusing on His character and promises that never change, even when our emotions and circumstances do. It doesn’t mean I need to be thankful when a wind storm causes damage to our property. But I can be grateful that no one was hurt.
