To improve is to change: figuring out what works best
Have you ever made changes to improve your well-being, and then wondered if it was worth it? For the past six months, I’ve been tacking on new goals to support a healthier lifestyle (see “Incremental changes that add up”). In addition to adding a new supplement to my diet and daily strength-training, I’ve also upped my dental hygiene game and, most recently, eliminated certain items from my diet. During my recent semiannual dental cleaning and checkup, my hygienist stated that my recession numbers—those pockets between the teeth and gums—were good and my teeth looked great. “Whatever you’re doing is working!” And when I received the results from my latest bloodwork, every one of my numbers had gotten better. It’s been encouraging to see that the changes I’ve adopted have contributed to an improvement in my overall health. I was also reminded that oftentimes we may need to try different tactics until we figure out what works best.
