FOMO: divine timing at work
Okay, it’s true. I Googled the FOMO acronym. For those of you scratching your heads, I’m referring to the fear of missing out. Although FOMO was a big deal when I attended school, as an adult I still struggle with the idea that I must participate in #allthethings. And this year, due to circumstances beyond my control, I’m forced to miss a few opportunities. This brings back those childhood memories of when I wasn’t picked in gym class, didn’t make the cut for dance line, or get voted in as May Day Queen (I know, right?). Granted, I never liked P.E., I made the pom-pom squad, and the girl crowned May Day Queen couldn’t have been sweeter. Yet I can’t help but recall how often I’ve experienced—instead—the hidden blessings of something better waiting in the wings. In the meantime, I’ll choose to live vicariously through the photos and videos friends and family post online, while I continue to trust God’s timing.
When have you experienced FOMO?
