What happens in the kitchen: best kept secrets

When I was a little girl, my mom “tricked” me into eating her zucchini crisp by letting me think the (abnormally long) fruit slices were thinly sliced apples. And while the dessert tasted good, I couldn’t eat more once I learned the truth. Which proves that some secrets are best kept to ourselves—especially when they relate to those “secret” ingredients in our recipes. If you want to reduce your refined sugar and oil consumption, then try these avocado brownies packed with healthy fats, potassium and rich chocolatey goodness. Or they might just show up in one of my next books. Speaking of books, A FATHER’S VOW—my debut Harlequin Love Inspired about a widower and a veterinarian who collaborate to catch vandals at smalltown Sweetwater’s wildlife preserve, while working through their painful pasts and falling in love—also includes a favorite treat. To order your copy, visit harlequin.com and check out their July sale, or stop by my website.
