Thirty-six years and counting: a love story for the books

Today my husband, Bob and I celebrate 36 years of marriage. A part-time job at a retail catalog store in a Minneapolis suburb served as the setting for our “meet cute,” and 11 months later we said our “I do’s” at a Twin Cities courthouse on a blustery afternoon. The rest has unfolded into a real-life fairytale for the books—a love story devoid of Disney fanfare that, instead, takes its cues from the greatest love story ever told of God’s adoration for His children, along with the fruit of patience, forgiveness, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, joy and peace. Lived out in reality, it looks like persevering during the valleys of hardships, celebrating the mountaintop moments, and extending grace when we get it wrong (which happens a lot). And it’s always about hope for new beginnings, humor in the messy middle & heart for happy endings—a love story I pray we’ll both be telling for years to come.

What’s the greatest love story you’ve ever read?
