Preparing for a new season: practicing patience
On the heels of my previous post about “getting unstuck,” I began today’s thoughts with these words: Totally. And. Completely. Stuck. Unfortunately, this overall sense of stagnancy also eked into other areas of my life, threatening to render me immobile. And I realized that what I feel relates more to dormancy — or stillness — rather than immobility. Instead, I compare it more to a gap at the end of one season in life as I prepare for a new one, just as the calendar marks the beginning of fall and a time of fallowness in nature (see “Reap a harvest”). But rather than view this new chapter in terms of idleness, unproductivity or uncreativeness, it becomes a fertile ground to practice patience in the pause. A place jam-packed full of confidence that the seeds planted over the previous season will not go to waste.
