New year, new word: a recipe for success
I talk a lot about setting ourselves up for success. About our one magical life. And I write about hope for new beginnings, humor in the messy middle and heart for happy endings. But what happens when new beginnings take a detour? This past summer, my husband and I embarked on a new beginning of our own—something big, exciting and a bit scary. However, the proverbial door ultimately slammed shut on our venture. Although disappointing at the time, it forced us to regroup and reevaluate our collective goals. Because, while hindsight oftentimes proves 20-20, it also serves to cast light on where we really want to go and perhaps a better way to get there. Now, rather than allow detours to ground us in that familiar (and too comfortable!) space of “going through the motions” (get up, go to work, return home; lather, rinse and repeat)—we’ve begun approaching each day with focus—or intention. My word, and a promise, to myself.
What’s your recipe for success?
