No trespassing: guarding our time
During Bible study, we’ve spent time discussing the importance of—and how to—guard our prayer time. This prompted me to ask the question: What if I take that concept and apply it to other areas of my life, too? Like building relationships, pursuing new passions, developing and/or honing fresh skills and knowledge, working on my health and well-being, engaging in playtime? If I’m not scribbling in my journal or writing on my laptop, I may be exploring forest trails, or taking a morning walk. I consider these sacred times. They not only include prayer (and physical activity), but they allow me to clear my mind, prepare my heart and set my intentions for the day ahead. And sometimes, I glean novel ideas, solve “life’s” problems, fix story plot holes or catch up with a friend. For me, guarding my time requires re-prioritizing and setting boundaries. It also means saying “no” to certain activities or outings that don’t make the cut.
What do you need to guard today?
