Showing up late to the party: when you feel unseen

As a late-blooming writer (aka mid-life), I often compare myself to prolific authors with five, 10, 20+ books in their backlist, while I eagerly await the release of my Harlequin Love Inspired debut novel (releases April 2024). I have to remind myself to acknowledge the small beginnings; e.g., my stories in Woman’s World, Chicken Soup for the Soul and Guideposts (Exploring God’s Promises: Hope releases February 2024). But then I’ll pop onto another newbie’s Twitter feed boasting 900+ views and 30+ likes and my posts remain “unseen.” On a podcast I listened to recently, the host touched on the topic of feeling unseen. Maybe you’re in a space where this resonates with you, too. Good news: God sees you, your heart, your sacrifices and your dedication to Him. Although my followers or likes haven’t suddenly gained traction, I’m encouraged God honors those who honor Him even if we don’t see the outcome in this lifetime. And that our hard work matters to Him.

When do you feel unseen?
