Thanksgiving series one of three: Always be joyful

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Welcome to the first of three Thanksgiving posts! Each installment will highlight one aspect of the key verse. Today, I’m talking about how to always be joyful. For my husband and me, the past 18 months have been a true test—of our patience, our faith and, I joked to our neighbors, our marriage. So how can we always be joyful when…expenses outweigh income; when circumstances go from bad to worse; when the best laid plans resemble roadkill? Here are four ways I’m practicing to always be joyful. First, I spend daily time with the Lord. Second, I consider my blessings, because there really is always something to be grateful for (even when I have to dig…deep). Third, I remember past victories. And fourth, I purpose in my mind to choose joy.

What’s one way that helps you always be joyful?
