Pause, breathe, resume for optimal well-being
It’s been a few weeks since I issued a self-imposed break from my laptop, during which time I engaged in several activities—including copious amounts of reading, a home improvement project, some spring cleaning and napping. One afternoon, my husband, Bob and I commuted ninety minutes roundtrip to indulge our sweet tooths with soft-serve gelato. On two other occasions, we logged in trail miles with his new hip. I also dabbled with story ideas, as well as tackled assorted word puzzles and card games. But from the outside looking in, it would appear there’s little if anything exciting or noteworthy to report—except for brand-new custom bathroom vanities, fixtures and plumbing, and a well-organized writing area. However, it was a much-needed opportunity to clear my agenda to pause and breathe—which turned out both relaxing and productive. And now that I’ve resumed day-to-day life, my hope is to return to this practice on a consistent basis for optimal well-being.
When was the last time you paused to breathe?
