Biting off more than you can chew: when enough is enough
How do you know when enough is enough? I wrestled with that question recently as I realized I’d bitten off more than I could chew (again). Let me back up a second. This past summer, an urgency to create movement inspired me to begin making small life changes. I neglected one important consideration, however. No matter how hard I tried, I could not multiply the finite hours in a day. Yet I still plunged forward — setting myriad opportunities in motion. Can you guess what happened? Several doors opened, simultaneously, and I entered each one with gusto. After all, I knocked on said doors, right? But rather than get stuck this time, I re-evaluated my priorities, stat. For every commitment I asked: does it help or hinder my goals, and how can I pivot my plans? While this might require turning away invitation(s), it beats burning out and/or burning bridges. The key? Recognizing the signs and then taking action.
What are signs that indicate you’ve bitten off too much?
